Each Magnesium capsule contains 100 mg of magnesium in citrate form to support macronutrient metabolism, bone health, and muscle function. Magnesium plays an essential role in muscle contraction and relaxation, and may also contribute to maintaining muscle function in physically active older adults. Older individuals, especially women, tend to have lower dietary magnesium intake and absorption rates. In the first clinical trial to evaluate the impact of magnesium on muscle performance in seniors, daily consumption of magnesium supplements for 12 weeks significantly improved physical performance. One hundred thirty-nine healthy, physically active women aged 65 and over were randomly selected to receive either a placebo or 300 mg of elemental magnesium from magnesium oxide. Following supplementation, participants in the magnesium group observed clinically relevant improvements in walking speed, with an average increase of 12 meters per minute. Walking speed is commonly used as an independent variable for diagnosing age-related muscle loss. Chair stand test results were also associated with significant improvement, indicating enhanced lower limb strength and balance.
