Mag Cal Formula 2 supports muscle and bone health using a combination of magnesium, calcium, and vitamin D. Each of these active ingredients plays an important role in maintaining optimal muscle function and bone mineral density. Magnesium is a cofactor for the enzyme creatine kinase, which forms ATP from phosphocreatine stored in muscle tissue during intense physical exercise (a phenomenon known as anaerobic lactic acid metabolism). In a double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial of 25 healthy male volleyball players with normal magnesium levels, consumption of 350 mg magnesium oxide supplements for 4 weeks supported muscle function in combination with intense physical exercise by enhancing anaerobic lactic acid metabolism. Following supplementation, lactic acid production during strenuous exercise was remarkably reduced in the magnesium group compared to baseline measurements.
