Create your Shopify account

To feature your products on Ocanova, you must have a Shopify account. While a fully designed online storefront is not required, this account will host your product listings, sync orders, and process payments. We recommend the basic Shopify Plan, as it offers all the features needed to manage your account.

Use the link below — it ties your signup to us, which lets us help if anything snags during setup.

About the trial: the free trial provides ample time to seamlessly import your product catalog and optimize your account setup. You will need to choose a paid plan before Shopify Payments can process any payments to you.

Turn on Shopify Payments in CAD

Meeting these Shopify Collective supplier criteria now is critical. Failing to fulfill every requirement upfront is the primary reason vendors face integration delays later.

  • Shopify Payments as your primary gateway — fully set up, unfrozen, and actively transferring funds to your bank account.
  • Payout currency set to CAD.
  • Your Collective price lists must be in CAD only.
  • A registered Canadian business address and physical inventory held in Canada.
  • Your store must pass Shopify's automated trust, safety, fraud and identity checks.
3

Install the Collective: Supplier app

In your Shopify admin, open Apps and type only the word Collective into the search bar. The Collective: Supplier app will appear. Make sure you do not click on the app named Collective. On its official page, click Install. This is a free app.

The Shopify Collective: Supplier app will appear in your Shopify Admin panel in the Sales channel in your left-hand sidebar menu.

Verify your identity and set up taxes

Shopify requires verification before it will let you become a Shopify Collective Supplier. Go to Sales channels → Collective: Supplier → Settings, then click the ID verification link.

Have a photo ID and a quick selfie ready — the check is automated and fast. Take the time to confirm your Canadian tax settings (GST/HST/PST) are configured and active.

All seven requirements must pass before you reach eligible Collective supplier status. The second step of the setup checklist is the most common roadblock for merchants.

Already selling on another platform? Import your catalogue here.

If you already sell online with Etsy, WooCommerce, Wix, Amazon, eBay, Square, Lightspeed, Clover and more — it is not necessary to do it manually. Your products can be pulled into Shopify, usually just by connecting the account.

Choose the platform you are currently using and we'll provide you with the instructions accordingly.

Prefer the simple route? Every one of these platforms (Lightspeed included) can export your catalogue as a CSV file. Just email that export to support@ocanova.ca — we'll convert it and import it into your new Shopify store for you, free. Nothing else for you to do.
⚠️ Important — keep your inventory in sync. If you keep selling on your old site after the import, your Shopify stock does not update by itself. Either make Shopify your main store going forward, or keep its inventory current (manually or with a sync app). Stale stock means Ocanova orders for products you've run out of — cancelled orders and disappointed customers.
Nothing to import right now? Go directly to step 6 to add your products manually in Shopify later on.

Build a Private Price List for Ocanova

This is the step that keeps you exclusive: a private list hides your inventory from the public Collective directory. In Collective: Supplier, go to Price lists → Create price list and title it Ocanova Price List.

Leave the status on Active. Under Permissions, switch to Private access — a Search retailers box appears; type Ocanova to assign the list exclusively to us.

Under Shipping, set either your flat rates or your calculated-at-checkout rules for Canadian regions, plus your free shipping policy if you have one.

The margin: under Pricing, set the Retailer Margin to the percentage in your Ocanova vendor agreement. For example, at a 20% margin your vendor selling price is your normal retail price less 20%. Then click the Save button at the top of the screen.

Add your Products

Still in Price lists, click the Add products tab at the bottom of the page. A window opens showing every product already in your Shopify store — tick the ones you want featured on Ocanova.

Click Save and the products are bound to your private list. Then Save and publish to activate it.

We're notified that your products are ready. We import them, sort them into our collections, label them and feature them on the platform.

🚀 Speed up your launch: every Ocanova listing carries a transparent origin label ("Made in Canada", "Imported from…"). Tell us the country of origin of each product — either written right in the product's description, or as one simple Excel/CSV list (product name + country of origin) sent to support@ocanova.ca. Products whose origin we already know skip our research queue and go live weeks sooner.

Automated Order Fulfillment & Payouts

  • Once the link is active, operations require zero manual data entry from you.
  • When a customer buys your product on Ocanova's website, the order streams straight into your own store's Orders queue.
  • Pack and ship to the customer exactly as you normally would.
  • Fulfil the order in your dashboard — the tracking number maps back to Ocanova and the customer automatically.
  • Shopify Payments splits the transaction instantly: the margin goes to Ocanova, and your funds land directly in your Shopify Payments account.

That's everything.

Your products will be featured on Ocanova shortly. We'll write to you as soon as they're imported and live.
