Description
  • For those who are indecisive, who have ideas that go round and round in their heads without finding a solution.

Well acclimatized in parks and gardens, the white-flowered horse chestnut is actually native to Central Asia, the Himalayas or the Caucasus. Bach used it twice, for its buds as well as for its very fragrant flowers when mature and appreciated by bees. They reveal themselves in white petals speckled with yellow that turn red after pollination. Grouped in pyramidal clusters, they open irregularly, giving an overall confused impression. Despite their abundance, they produce few seeds, only a few of which will manage to form chestnuts.

This floral abundance that fruits so little is an evocative illustration of the remedy, intended for those with mental hyperactivity, for those whose intrusive and obsessive thoughts go round and round in their heads without achieving anything. This harassing inner dialogue that repeats in a loop often fuels insomnia. White Chestnut is recommended for dissolving this stuttering thought process and for bringing calm and clarity of mind.

"For those who cannot prevent certain ideas, thoughts, reflections they do not want from going round and round in their heads. This usually happens when their interest in the present moment is too weak to occupy their entire mind. Thoughts torment and linger, and even if one manages to chase them away, they return, go round and round, and torture the mind. These kinds of unpleasant thoughts drive away rest and prevent one from being present to what one has to do or to the pleasures of existence." Excerpt from the 1936 edition of "The Twelve Healers", translated into French by C. Lévi and G. Wolf.
