Description

What is black elderflower?

In the past, elder was nicknamed "the country folk's pharmacy." Very popular in Europe, its berries and flowers are used in several fields, namely in herbalism, fine cuisine, and alternative medicine. Our elderflowers are carefully hand-picked and shade-dried to preserve their quality and natural virtues.

How to use black elderflowers?

  1. As an herbal tea: You can infuse them alone for a pure taste or create your own blend by adding your favorite loose-leaf teas.

  2. In cooking: They have a thousand and one uses, let your creativity run wild! Enhance your jams, jellies, compotes, pies, and desserts. They also make excellent cocktail syrups and lemonades.
The flowers are also prized in the food industry for flavoring sparkling wines, premium tonics, teas, syrups, and various beverages.

  3. In herbalism: In modern herbalism, the flowers are the main part used. According to the monographs of the German Commission E, an organization recognized for its research and writing of a therapeutic guide to phytotherapy, black elder helps with coughs, bronchitis, fever, and colds.
The infusion of dried flowers is also said to act as a tonic, expectorant, and diuretic.
It can also be used externally as a poultice to reduce inflammation and relieve pain. As well as in an ointment to soothe burns and scalds.
