Arnold Watch - Recycled Whisky Barrel Wood

The Arnold watch, by Mathieu Blanchard, is freely designed, drawing inspiration from the most prodigious watchmakers the field has known. This model is thus named in homage to John Arnold and Thomas Earnshaw: two English watchmakers who, by significantly developing the production of marine chronometers in the 18th century, helped to generalize their use. Until then, most of the constituent elements of these instruments had to come from the hands of the manufacturers themselves, and their production thus remained strictly limited.

A product's durability primarily depends on its materials. For Mathieu Blanchard Signature watches, we use durable materials.

For the crystal, we use sapphire crystal: it is the most frequently used glass on high-end watches today. Sapphire crystal is 10 times harder than mineral glass and 4 times harder than acrylic glass. It is virtually impossible to scratch except with diamond, which is even harder. This crystal is lab-created.

For watch cases and straps, we have made enormous efforts to produce using durable materials such as natural wood from sustainable sources and matte-finished stainless steel. This finish provides visual durability, as wear and tear appear much less than with a polished finish.

Our primary material is wood, which has a significant environmental advantage over other comparable materials: low carbon emissions during the production process and biodegradable materials.

Our watches are handmade with great precision by an experienced team. Each watch is naturally unique and crafted from real wood such as walnut and oak (from Whisky barrels).
