KOCHA BLACK TEA - ASCENSION
Ships from Ontario💰
Description
A smooth, full bodied Japanese black tea with low astringency offering floral and nutty notes with hints of cherry syrup.
“Ascension” is a refined Japanese kocha, a black tea crafted from Camellia sinensis leaves grown and processed with the gentle precision characteristic of Japanese tea artisans. The brewed cup shines a deep amber-red and offers a graceful profile: soft malt, hints of baked fruit, light honey sweetness, and a clean, uplifting finish.
This tea draws its inspiration from the mystery of the Ascension of Jesus, when Jesus Christ was lifted up before his disciples and entered into heavenly glory. In Christian tradition, the Ascension marks both completion and promise: Christ returns to the Father while opening the path of hope for those who follow.
The character of this kocha reflects that movement of rising. As the leaves steep, the aroma gently lifts from the cup: warm, sweet, and airy. The tea begins grounded and rich on the palate, then gradually lightens, leaving a clean brightness that seems to rise upward.
“Ascension” invites a contemplative moment: a reminder that the simplest acts, brewing water, watching the steam rise, sharing a cup, can echo deeper mysteries of hope, renewal, and the lifting of the heart.
Origin: Yakushima, Kagoshima, Japan
