Decaf - Single Origin Colombia

You've been asking us a lot of questions about decaffeinated coffee. So we'll try to answer them in this description.

Any coffee can be decaffeinated and there are two main decaffeination processes: natural and chemical. At BBCR, we chose a naturally decaffeinated Colombian coffee (Swiss Water Processed). We found that Colombian coffee had the body and amazing flavour notes people were looking for and we chose Swiss Water for the obvious reason. ;)

The "Swiss Water Process" involves steeping the green beans in temperature-controlled water for a period of time, then exposing them to carbon filters that attract caffeine molecules out of the green bean's body, leaving the water and filters full of pure caffeine and the beans 99.9% caffeine-free. This allows for much more aroma to be retained in the bean during roasting and brewing, making it the obvious choice for those who want coffee without the side effects. This decaf can be consumed using all brewing methods and with all sorts of drinks.

Our decaf coffee from Colombia is a medium-dark roast, 14 on the Roast Scale and 61 on the Agtron Gourmet Scale established by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA).
