Biotone EFA is an effective blend of free plant sterols derived from lecithin, essential fatty acids, and antioxidants that promotes optimal health. Free-form plant sterols act on cholesterol absorption in the intestine. They displace dietary cholesterol into micelles, resulting in increased cholesterol excretion in the stool and reduced serum cholesterol levels. In a randomized, placebo-controlled trial involving 66 adults with hypercholesterolemia, daily supplementation with 0.3 to 0.5 g of plant sterol esters significantly reduced LDL cholesterol levels, dose-dependently, over a four-week period. Antioxidants promote good health by scavenging free radicals to prevent oxidative damage.
