Unfamiliar with moissanite?

In recent years, moissanite has become a very popular alternative to diamond; moissanite resembles diamond but costs significantly less. Composed of silica and carbon (C), moissanite is reproduced by humans in laboratories. Why reproduced? This stone was initially discovered in 1893 in the Canyon Diablo meteorite, which fell approximately 50,000 years ago in Arizona, USA, and is the origin of the Meteor Crater.

Moissanite has, on average, more brilliance than diamond due to its refractive index of 2.65 to 2.69, compared to 2.417 to 2.419 for diamond. This means moissanite reflects more light than diamond, provided that two stones of similar color, cut, and size are being compared.

This brilliant stone has a hardness of 9.25 on the Mohs scale. It is second only to diamond in hardness, meaning you can be confident your jewelry will last.
