The Bach flower remedy Aspen is composed of aqueous extracts of Populus tremula and Brandy. Behind this scientific name is actually a tree relatively common in Europe, but also in North America and North Asia: the aspen. This tree, belonging to the large Salicaceae family, particularly appreciates sunny environments. This is why it is more easily found in plains and clearings than in undergrowth. Its natural resistance even allows it to grow up to medium altitudes.

Botanically speaking, the aspen, sometimes nicknamed "trémou" or "trémolin", reaches a height of between 20 and 30 meters. Its trunk and branches are covered with smooth bark on which diamond-shaped lenticels form here and there. It is this bark that has medicinal properties exploited for centuries. Its leaves are characterized by their rounded and serrated shapes. In autumn, they take on a particularly sublime golden color. It is to them that the tree owes its particular name, because they tremble at the slightest breath of air, as if calling to be comforted. The tree's flowers, for their part, are grouped in catkins that develop in the spring.
